Russell Lawson has been playing and singing since the 60's. He composes originals, both secular and sacred, and a number of his tunes evoke his roots in the Charleston, SC, lowlands. He has a small home studio where he records and produces tapes and CDs of his compositions for family and friends. Russell is a member of the Songwriters Guild of America, the Virginia Organization of Composers and Lyricists and the Americana Music Association. He plays and sings around Richmond with Oak Lane Acoustic Music, Liz Nance, solo or with his best friend, David Berry. He sings Bass in the West Gallery Choir at St. James's Episcopal Church and is a member of the choir's Guitar Ensemble. Russell is marketing director for a mid-sized Virginia law firm.

Russell won second place in American Songwriter magazine's 2009 September-October Lyric Contest.
